Abstract
The emerging markets of Asia, Latin America, Earstern Europe, the former Soviet empire, and elsewhere continue to be exciting places to be—exciting for creditors that is. Many high-profile defaults and restructurings tend to be the norm rather than the exception. This article explores the ways that creditors can test the waters with debtors, to better understand the chances for success in obtaining an effective operating plan to save the affected entity. Seven specific actions are noted to alert creditors to the probability of good working relationships with debtors.
